The December Poems: Ten

Salty and sweet smells fill the room with a tang of
vinegar, a touch of spice. December tastes like
memories, melting on your tongue like a
snowflake, filling senses with holidays
gone by. Aromas awaken the inner
child. Suddenly I am five again,
tugging on my grandma’s
skirt, reaching up for
one more cookie
before Santa
