The things we do for our kids.
Now listen, I love the color green. And I love Dr. Seuss. And I love a good, fun meal.
Even though I’ve made green eggs and ham for three years now on Dr. Seuss’ birthday, there’s just something… off-putting about green eggs and ham.
I ate it. But I wasn’t happy.
The boys were.
Why yes, Ninja Turtles eat dinner with us. Not you?
I read Green Eggs and Ham to the boys at bedtime. I kind of love reading that book. I had it memorized as a child. Today, over dinner, I learned that BigBrother has most of it memorized as well. After we tucked him in and kissed him goodnight, he sat in his room and read the book aloud to himself. Last year, he just knew a few words in the book. Now he blazes through it.
I’ve told the boys that even when they’re teenagers, I’ll make green eggs and ham on Dr. Seuss’ birthday. Even if they have friends over. Or significant others. It’s just what I’ll do, even though it kind of makes me gag. Because it’s just one of those (green) things we do around here.

Today’s green outfit:
Cardigan was from K-mart two years ago. Necklace was a handmade piece I bought when I still worked at the local NBC affiliate in 2006. I made another co-worker mad that I called dibs on that one as soon as the jewelry maker laid it on the table. But it was obviously made for me. No?
